IxD from the outside

Over some beers last night Jamin mentioned a recent blog post from Core77 – an industrial designer’s take on interaction design. After reading Jamin’s writeup about the article I took a look at the original article for myself.

While I agree that the industrial designer author seems to poke fun at IxD at the beginning I see the majority of the post as an fairly accurate view of interaction design. However, the tone and nature of the writing makes it seem as though the author is making the confused, head-slightly-tilted, yet interested puppy face meaning “I see what you’re doing and it looks familiar, but I don’t understand it and I’m curious.”
